PLAYING AND ENJOYING BOWLS TOGETHER, WHATEVER THE WEATHER

...and hitting form: Havers Park Bowls Club Winners of the 2-legged Kent Cup versus Stansted Bowls Club

Following on from this success, a statement from Brian Hurst about...

The Ladies Seniors Friday afternoon league:

I would like to update you on the magnificent run of success that our Senior Ladies team, captained by Sheila Common, are having since entering the above tournament for the first time this year. The format is for 1 x Rink of Senior Ladies played as the name suggests on a Friday afternoon, on a home and away basis.

They have currently played eight games out of a projected fourteen games and have won seven of them, a really fine achievement considering the limited amount of lady players available for selection. This high standard they have set is going to be difficult to maintain with the number of other events that they are involved in and they have another six games to play, four of those away.

They are truly our ' Fab Four ' although they call themselves the "Lionesses" So let's show them our support. Have a look in your Fixture book to see where they are playing

DANIEL ROBINSON CUP RUNNERS-UP

Congratulations to Bishops Stortford Bowls Club for winning the Daniel Robinson Cup, followed closely in second by our own valiant team from Havers Park.
As Brian Hurst rightly put it, "we were outright winners on the day". Well done everyone who contributed to such a wonderful day and a special thank you to the sponsors, Daniel Robinson & Sons.

2019 WINNERS OF THE HPC LADIES FRIDAY LEAGUE AND OF THE KENT CUP

What a year this has been. Not content with winning the Kent Cup and being runners-up for the Danial Robinson Trophy, our ladies Four have topped the lot by winning the fiercely contested Ladies East Herts Friday league. I hope you will join me in congratulating these wonderful ladies. What a year. What a club.

From the ‘Fab Four’ to the ‘Four Tops’ by Brian Hurst

After fourteen hard fought games, starting back in early May our Senior Ladies have emerged as worthy winners against seven equally tenacious teams. Every Friday afternoon during the past fourteen weeks has seen them battling away somewhere in the name of Havers Park Bowls Club and in all weathers.

Friday 9th August at Havers Park saw their final game to be played, against Elsenham, the League leaders, in what turned out to be the deciding match and which Havers won by a considerable margin, in front of an over-excited group of supporters. The coolest were the ladies themselves who had held their game together remarkably well, despite one of the Elsenham ladies collapsing on the Green. Duncan to his disappointment did not get to use the defibrillator and thankfully all was well after a short break.

Nobody knew what the position was at the finish because there were a number of other games going on. We knew that Havers were in the frame for a high finish, so it was an anxious time waiting for the results to be finalised. Not, I hasten to add for the ladies who took themselves off to Hertford for the Shield match the next day.

On Tuesday 13th the results dropped into Sheila’s email box. They had WON! Some achievement considering it was the first time of entering the League and with so few ladies to select from.

Well done the TEAM. You deserve all the plaudits you have received.

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR OUR 2019 CLUB CAPTAIN

Our stunning 6-rink grass green is a credit to the skills of Duncan Burrett, John Clark and our team of volunteer green keepers. It provides the ultimate playing surface and the ideal conditions for everyone to experience the joys of playing lawn bowls. In addition to the luxurious green, our facilities also include: a well-equipped and fitted kitchen, a licenced bar open to all members, mens and ladies changing rooms and a spacious clubhouse. The clubhouse is very much in use during the year for those who like to socialise. Our Friday evenings card schools are particularly popular.
Havers Park Bowls Club also offers the chance for you to play bowls, whether it be a gentle roll-up in peaceful surroundings or the wish to represent the club in cups and competitions. Come and join us and be guaranteed to play bowls whatever your ability.

OUR 6-RINK GREEN

Our splendid 6-rink green is the envy of many of our visiting bowls clubs and players. However, they and you will get to enjoy the best conditions using the ultimate playing surface to enjoy the game of bowls. For those of you who want to get started and also make the most of this excellent green, we have sets of woods that new members can borrow.

Whether you are bowling or just watching, you will enjoy the ambience of our splendid bowls club that we would very much enjoy sharing with you.

OUR CLUBHOUSE & FACILITIES

We have a spacious fully-carpeted clubhouse, which comfortably accommodates up to 100 people. There are also spacious same-sex changing rooms with associated facilities. The clubhouse also has its own licensed bar with lovely Brenda and John Bayford at its helm. Our clubhouse lends itself perfectly to meeting and socialising as well as social events during, after or even outside of match days. With the fully equipped kitchen, you will get to enjoy spending time with others in a lovely social setting.
